Saludos, friends of LCF and Progreso!

We extend our hearts and deepest strength to the families who lost their loved ones in the Atlanta shooting this week. We must condemn and dismantle white supremacy at every level. These acts of hate and violence against the AAPI communities are unacceptable and we must do more and do better on behalf of communities of color.

Please consider donating funds or your personal time to our partners or your local organizations putting in the work.

Upcoming Event Spotlights 🎙️

Build the Bench with Girmay Zahilay

King County Council member Girmay Zahilay is prepared to lead the next generation into office! Follow along his workshops he leads with other community leaders which focus on teaching all the unknowns that come with running for office. The next workshop will be March 20th, and you can register here. This event is a part 2 from last month’s session where it will cover the more technical aspects of a candidate’s campaign. Girmay breaks down every step of the way and we encourage you, coveted members of the community to spread the word! Let’s get more of us into office, yes?

Alianza Legislative Action Week

Our LCF Alianza programming team has various Alianza Advocacy Councils across the state, and they are hosting a series of events from March 22nd-March 26th. They’ll have speakers and workshops throughout the week where youth will share the impact of current proposed bills on their life stories. The official schedule will be posted closer to the dates. This event will take place over Zoom. For any questions or information about Alianza Legislative Week, Youth Empowerment, please contact the Alianza Leadership Managers: merivet@latinocommunityfund.org and tanya@latinocommunityfund.org

You can register here!

Foundations on the Hill 🏛️

Latino Community Fund along with members of Philanthropy Northwest, Na’ah Illahee Fund, College Success Foundation, and the Stolte Foundation sit with Legislative Assistant of Congressman Adam Smith (CD-9) to highlight the importance of philanthropy has on community organizing and its successes.

Foundations on the Hill seeks to provide the space for members of philanthropy to speak with our region’s elected officials about issues of critical importance to philanthropy and our communities. We had a great time making our voices heard as funders and collaborators with the community! LCF’s mission strives to put money in the hands of communities of color to empower them to serve the needs they know will be useful to their communities.
